Fall Activities For Dogs

It's officially September, which means that we're getting closer to one of the best seasons - fall! Whether you're in a climate where the weather stays the same, or there are leaves changing colors, fall is the perfect time of year to get out and enjoy time with your pup. Here are some fun fall activities for your dog.

Baking Fall-Themed Treats

Okay, so your dog might not be able to help you make the treats, but they will certainly enjoy the treats that you make! A day of baking treats it the perfect way to spend a rainy or cold day. There are multiple dog treat recipes that are healthy for your pup and easy to make at home. You can bake treats for yourself at the same time and then enjoy a little snack with your pup.

Pumpkin Patch Visit

If you've ever seen It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, then you know that pumpkin patches an offer a certain kind of fall-time mysticism. Do a search for pumpkin patches around you and see if they're dog-friendly. If they are, bring your pup along with you to help you find the perfect pumpkin (or pumpkins) for carving or baking. Your pup will enjoy the car ride and walk, and you'll be able to walk away with the perfect pumpkin.

Festivals

Since the weather is so great for much of the country during the fall season, there are typically lots of festivals popping up. Whether it's a pie bake-off or a Halloween carnival, festivals are a great place to attend with your pup (if they're allowed). They're especially great if your dog is a people-person, because we all know that people love petting friendly pups!

Hayrides

Hayrides are the perfect fall activity - you get to spend time outside and sit on hay bales with the autumn breeze blowing in your hair. If local hay rides allow it, you can bring your pup with you to enjoy the ride. If they like car rides, they'll love hay rides. You can even make your own version of a hay ride if you have a pickup or tractor, and can drive around your yard (safely and slowly) for an at-home tractor ride.

Dog Parks

Take advantage of the dog parks in your area before the weather gets too chilly! With a beautiful fall backdrop and crisp weather, it's the perfect time of year to spend a while at the dog park. With the weather cooling down in most states, it means that you can enjoy the dog park with your pup and be less worried about them getting overheated.

No matter what you do with your pup during the fall season, the most important thing is that you're doing it together! Stay tuned for some more suggestions for doggy Halloween costumes, fall treats to bake, and more.
