The last few days, Fresh Patch got to hang out at The Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida.
Global Pet Expo isn’t that well-known to those who are outside the pet industry, as it is an event for those directly involved with the pet market.
But you might be curious as to what happens at The Global Pet Expo every year. There are approximately 1000 exhibitors, 2,700 booths and more than 3,000 new product launches. It’s essentially a giant market for pet-product buyers! About 5,500 pet product buyers attend the expo every year to scope out new products.
There are fun things that happen, too! There’s an award ceremony that recognizes some of the best new, old and developing companies that is appropriately called the Best in Show contest. There are also networking opportunities and social events that allow those in the pet industry to get to know each other.
The American Pet Products Association (APPA) and the Pet Industry Distributors Association (PIDA) are the producers of the Global Pet Expo. Both associations are known for their extreme dedication to animal safety. PIDA has a program called “Pets in the Classroom” that donates all kinds of pets to classrooms to help teach kids about the importance of caring for an animal and to get them excited to come to school!
